WELCOME TO Punjabi Dhol
The Punjabi dhol is a traditional drum widely associated
with Punjabi music and culture, especially during festivals, weddings, and
celebrations. It consists of a double-headed barrel-shaped drum, typically made from
wood, with one side (called the "dagga") producing a deep bass sound, while the
other side (called the "jhanga") produces a higher-pitched tone. Played with two
sticks—one thick and heavy, and the other thinner—the dhol creates vibrant,
energetic rhythms. Its lively beats are central to Bhangra music, embodying the
spirit of joy and community. The dhol's sound is powerful, infectious, and deeply
tied to the cultural identity of Punjab.
